Tis the Season to be Scary... (Double book giveaway to one lucky commenter)

THE FORTUNE TELLER MYSTERIES by Kari Lee Townsend
Sunny Meadows vents!

Hi, everyone. I know what you're all thinking. Tis the season to be merry is the saying. Well, let me tell you. Lately it feels a whole lot more like tis the season to be scary.

Why you say?

Because I'm pretty darn close to murdering a certain someone.

Yup, you guessed it. One dark, brooding, ornery, cynical detective. Mitch is no help at all around the holidays, I'm finding out. You see this is my first year in Divinity, New York. I love the town. It's small and quaint and charming. The perfect place to open up my fortune-teller business.

Mostly perfect, anyway.

Mr. Grumpy pants is driving me crazy! In book one, we really don't like each other. I am a fortune teller, and he is a non-believer. Except there's so much chemistry between us, we can't help but grow on each other.

Then in book two we actually decide to give "us" a chance. Maybe even go on a real date. Except my Granny Gert is always stirring up trouble, and my cat Morty doesn't like Detective Stone, and my parents won't butt out and stay home where they belong.

However, I decided to put all that aside for the sake of the holidays. Christmas. My favorite time of year. Only the grump butt doesn't see the point in decorating. It's too much work and then you just have to take it down and he's busy keeping the streets safe, blah blah blah. He won't shop with me, either. Something about crowds not being his thing. He is enjoying Granny's cookies, though. (Granny has a cookie for everything), and he did try to help me wrap.

Ha! Sooooo not pretty.

6 days left until Christmas. Definitely not merry and totally scary! I'm terrified I won't finish in time. So tell me, is Christmas merry or scary to you? Are you done or still scrambling like me? Ready to kill someone yourself? Please make me feel like I'm not alone and leave a comment.

Since we're having such a cozy Christmas here at Killer Characters, please leave a comment to win an autographed copy of BOTH books 1 and 2. TEMPEST IN THE TEA LEAVES (and) CORPSE IN THE CRYSTAL BALL. If you have a problem leaving a comment, you may send it to me at

If you already have the books, then give them away. Tis the season of giving :-) And remember, book 3 TROUBLE IN THE TAROT comes out on March 5th. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the characters in the Fortune Teller Mystery series.          www.karileetownsend.com

  1. For the first time in my life, I have my shopping finished and presents wrapped. Having the presents wrapped is really amazing since I am usually doing this Christmas Eve.

The really like your series and have read both books, but I would love to win them to give away.

Sweet! With 4 kids, my shopping is NEVER done! Scary indeed :-)

  • My shopping is done (I buy things throughout the year) most of it shipped off. However, I have some crafting projects that I need to finish as gifts. And I can't find necessary supplies. Ugh. I also haven't had much holiday spirit this year-so, while the outside decorations have been up and lit since the day after Thanksgiving I don't have much inside-aside from the Christmas tree.

  • I've learned to just relax, do what I feel like doing .... as we get older and our families pass away, it's easier to spend time with people in Nursing Homes, Hospitals that don't have anyone! Just do what you want and not what everyone else wants and life is just so much easier! Half of what we insist on doing never needed to be done! Thanks for sharing with us and Merry Christmas!

I hear that! Can't please everyone. At least that's what I tell myself every day. Problem is myself doesn't listen and I still go on killing myself to please the world :-)

I just have to deliver gifts to my co workers which I will do today. Otherwise I am finished. We will go out of town, this weekend to spend the holiday with a daughter and son in law. I do a lot of ordering on Amazon and I don't do much baking. I would agree with Anonymous, as we get older, Christmas can be rather scary because our families move away and as they get families of their own, they have other obligations. Some times holidays are spent alone.

My oldest is just getting ready to head off to college next year :-( As crazy as my house is, I don't want ANY of them to go! I'm going to be a mess when they all leave. Guess I'll just have to write more books to take my mind off it :-)

  • Santa wraps his presents at my house. That still has to be done. I enjoy an hour or so of the last minute shopping to get small stocking stuffer items. But the main "Santa" presents are at home hidden. Christmas is a fun time of year with my children - even though they are teenagers. They still enjoy of the magic of not knowing what Santa will leave under the tree.

Love that! And my boys are all teenagers, but my daughter is 10. She just found out this year, but I still play the "Santa" game, too :-)
