I am a girly girl. I'm probably too old to be called a girl now, but I'm petite and blonde, and I suspect I'll consider myself a girl for quite a while yet.
It wasn't always cool to be a girly girl. I love seeing little girls
running around in princess dresses and wearing tiaras! When I was in high school, it was cool to be a fashionista, but woe to those who wore the wrong color. Black and brown were in, but I'm just a pink girl through and through. And I love lace and ruffles and frilly things. It was even cool to be a nerd, to be smart about astronomy and computers. I still think that's cool. It just wasn't me.
While everyone else was busy being cool, I wore pink, and baked, and collected miniatures. How old-fashioned is that? It's a good thing high school only lasts a few years, otherwise we'd never develop into the people we were meant to be.Now I'm living my dreams. Do you have a dream? I wanted to have my own cupcake shop, and now I do! It took a lot of work and pinching of pennies but we did it! I went
in with my best friend and opened Sugar Baby. We live over top of the cupcakery in Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia. It just doesn't get any better than this.We have fun describing people as cupcakes. If I were a cupcake, I'd be a mini-cupcake (I love teeny things) of vanilla cake (pretty plain) with a strawberry filling (sweet inside) and a very pink sugary strawberry frosting with clear sugar sprinkles on it! Yup, I'm a girly girl all right!
What kind of cupcake would you be?

I have to think a bit longer as to what kind of cupcake I'd be, but just wanted to stop and say what a fun post! And I love the book cover. I'd definitely pick it up at the store and maybe buy it, just because of the cover. Which of course, we all know how important a cover is! Thanks, this was fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you Becky! That's so nice of you to say. Oddly enough, I just heard about a group in New Jersey that's doing exactly what happened in the book -- a cupcake sale for the benefit of an animal rescue group! No murder, though, I hope!

Ginger with orange zest and walnut bits, topped with ginger-cream cheese frosting. Spicy, yet nuanced. And satisfying.
ReplyDeleteOolala! Am I wrong in reading this as a sexy sort of cupcake? We may have to add this to our menu!
