You all know my sister, Sophie, right? Well, silly question I guess. If you’ve been to Snowflake, Vermont, I’m sure you’ve met her. She’s a ski instructor at the Snowflake Resort in the winter and when she isn’t working she’s hanging out a lot at the By the Spoonful Soup Shop, the restaurant her best friend Lucky runs, and the place where her husband is the chef. Yup, she’s a married lady now. She's Sophie Colgan DuBois.
I love my sister to death, but she’s tortured me and driven me crazy. Especially in Ladle to theGrave, the first (and probably only) book where I actually appear. See, I took off when I was young and did my best to stay away. There are reasons for that. I’m sure if you’ve read my story you’ll understand why. I didn’t commit a murder but I helped to cover one up.
It was real tough telling my sister about it. I knew it would throw her for an unbelievable loop. She was pretty upset and disappeared for a while herself. I didn’t want to tell her what had happened years before, but she wouldn’t stop pressuring me. So I finally broke down. The truth is out now and I don’t know if the police will come after me. I’m hoping they don’t, but I’m taking off anyway. Good luck trying to find me. I can tell you this, I’m not gonna make it easy. Not after all that’s happened.
I love my sister with all my heart. And I’m so proud of her and the life she’s made for herself. She may not believe that, but it’s true. I hope she understands why I had to leave. I feel bad but I think if she gives it a little thought, she’ll have some sympathy for my situation. I just hope she knows I love her and I’m always thinking of her – no matter what.
