What’s In Your House…

Howdy, Auntie KiKi here and talking about my Christmas Table.

I’ve got my meal planned already, sure can’t be waiting for the last minute on something so important.

But before we even get to cooking Putter and I had to go chop down the biggest, fattest, tree we could find. Lucky we got an old house here in Savannah with high ceilings to fit the tree.

And wouldn’t you know it that Putter just had to bring his putter along. Then again that is how my doctor husband went and got the nickname that he has.

And then on the way back from getting out tree it was a darn good thing Putted brought along his golf club because would wouldn’t you know it that I spotted the prettiest bunch of mistletoe up in a tall poplar tree. And Putter being the great guy that he is climbed up in that tree and got that mistletoe for me. Just to show him how grateful I was we made good use of it right there on the side of the road. Putter is one good kisser, I can tell you that.

And of course when we got back home Putter hauled the tree into the living room while I got out the ladder and propped it against the magnolia tree out back. Nothing but a magnolia wreathe on the front door will do. And it’s got to be the biggest one on the block or I will have a hissy.

Well, it looks like Putter’s got the tree up in the front window all pretty like and here comes Reagan to help decorate. It’s going to be a mighty fine Christmas here in Savannah. I just love my house all decorated up but I have to confess the magnolia wreath on the front door is my favorite decoration. Nothing like those big green leaves and a bright red bow.

So what is your favorite Christmas decoration in your house? I’ll pick a name from the responses and give away a copy of Demise in Denim.

Happy decorating.

Hugs,

Auntie KiKi

  1. The Christmas tree is my favorite because of the blinking lights and ornaments.

  • Hi Auntie Kiki and Duffy!

My favorite Christmas decoration is a set of candle holders that spells NOEL. It belonged to my father's mother, and when she passed away it went to my mom. It was placed every year on top of the china cabinet in the dining room. My father always worked from 4-midnight when I was growing up, and every night when he would come home from work he would move the letters around and when I awoke in the mornings the candle holders spelled LEON. A silly family tradition that we looked forward to every year. They're sitting on my bookshelf right now, and I smile every time I look at them.

    Merry Christmas!
    Nicole
