New Year, New Books!

by Violet Waverly from Crime and Poetry

Happy New Year! I’m Violet Waverly and this is my first time visiting Killer Characters. Amanda Flower will be my biographer this coming year. I'm a little nervous about it; I’m not one who likes the spotlight. I have a history of running away and hiding from my past. That is all about to change in this coming year when my first biography releases, Crime and Poetry. It took some convincing on Amanda’s part for me to give up my rather fantastical story to her. You see at heart, I am an academic. Currently, I am a PhD candidate at the University of Chicago where I am getting my degree in Transcendentalist Literature. You are probably thinking, what’s that? Don’t worry, it’s a common reaction. Just think nineteenth century writers like Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau. I am an expert in both of them and their Transcendentalist pals. However being such an expert in literature did not prepare me for what transpires in Crime and Poetry, not by a long shot. It all begins with my grandmother tricking me to return to Cascade Springs, New York, a village just minutes from Niagara Falls and a place that I fled when I was seventeen for very good reasons. Grandma Daisy wants me back in the village to take over her bookshop, Charming Books, where the perfect book picks you… quite literally.

When I realize that I have been tricked by Grandma Daisy, I was ready to hightail it out of Cascade Spring until I find a dead body in my grandmother’s driveway. And so begin the adventure that turns even more strange when the books in the shop start to reveal their secrets. I hope you will give my biography a try. It releases on April 5, 2016 and it one incredible adventure! Trust me, I lived through it! Happy 2016!
