Mackenzie Almeida, here. I've been bugging my author, Maddie Day (also known as Edith Maxwell), to announce this news and I finally convinced her. I get to star in my own mystery series from Kensington Publishing!
It's true. I run Mac's Bikes, a bicycle repair and rental shop in Westham on Cape Cod, but I also host a weekly book group called the Cozy Capers. All we read is cozy mysteries. And yeah, we read a book a week. Don't you?
Almost all the shopkeepers in town belong to the Capers, as well as the librarian, the outgoing chief of police, and and a few others. We try to prepare some of the recipes in the books, when they include them, and we meet in the private lighthouse my half-brother Hayden lives in as caretaker.
Westham is a typical small town on the Cape - flooded with tourists for half the year, and struggling to get by the other half. I'm pretty active with the food bank and soup kitchen in town, both of which are run out of my dad's UU church. Those help with that "other half" issue, but they don't solve the problem of locals not being able to afford the rent or losing their income all winter.
But we're creative here in our beautiful corner of the world, and things were looking up - until a man was murdered directly in back of my tiny house. When it looked like Hayden might have been involved, I had no choice but to jump in and do what I could to clear his name. Wouldn't you do the same for family?
We're not sure when the first book will come out - probably early in 2018. Watch for more news from Maddie/Edith when she gets it, and for more posts here from me and others in Westham.

I've never been to Cape Cod but it's on my travel bucket list. The first thing I would do is go to the beach!
ReplyCongrats to Edith! Wonderful news! I have a cousin with a beautiful spot in Provincetown. He has offered to let us go up and use it anytime we want. Sounds like the perfect spring trip after the horrible winter that's about to begin!
