from Peg Cochran's Cranberry Cove Series
Monica stretched luxuriously and pulled the covers up to her chin. She loved the day after Christmas, lying in bed and letting all the happy memories of the season wash over her.
She’d cooked a big dinner—a turkey from the Kuiper’s farm down the road, plenty of mashed potatoes drenched in butter, and of course, cranberry sauce made from Sassamanash Farm’s own berries.
Their table had been full—Greg, Gina, Jeff, Lauren and Monica’s mother had even come down from Chicago for the weekend.
Christmas Eve they’d sat around until midnight playing board games—Gina was surprisingly good at Monopoly and Greg was a highly competitive Scrabble player although Monica had managed to beat him by a slim margin in the end.
A light snow had fallen Christmas Eve morning turning Sassamanash Farm into a picture postcard scene. Monica and Greg had gone sledding, laughing like children as they tumbled off at the bottom of the hill.
Today the farm store was closed and Monica planned to enjoy her hours of leisure, lying on the sofa and diving into the new mystery Greg had given her for Christmas.
It was certainly very special time of year.
Coming in May!
