Welcome to Seasons Greetings from the Killer Characters!
By Vicky Casey from the Year Round Christmas series by Vicki Delany
It’s Christmas! And that means baking, baking, and more baking here at Victoria’s Bake Shoppe
Of course baking also means eating and I plan to do plenty of that. When I can get a break anyway.
And that’s not easy.
Gingerbread cookies are the specialty at Victoria's Bake Shoppe
I own my own bakery and cafĂ© here in Rudolph, New York, proudly called America’s Christmas Town. We really know how to celebrate the holidays here and we do it all year round. Santa himself lives here, don’t you know? Yes, he has his official residence at the North Pole, but that’s a long way to go and it’s rather dark at this time of the year. Not only that but his official master toy maker, Alan Anderson, lives near Rudolph, and it would be a lot of work for Alan to get all his beautiful handmade wooden toys up to the North Pole.
As sold in Mrs. Claus's Treasures
Okay, I kinda made that last part up. Santa, as we know him in Rudolph, is really Noel Wilkinson, father of my best friend Merry. And Alan is… well Alan and Merry are still trying to sort out their relationship.
Merry owns Mrs. Claus’s Treasures, the place to shop for home decorating and gifts on Jingle Bell Lane.
You’d think that living in a year round Christmas destination, we’d get pretty tired of the holiday. But in Rudolph we love it all the more when the nights turn cold and the snow starts to fall and the spirit of the season fills everyone.
Actually, the spirit of the season even fills us in July. Like this past July when the big boat parade brought Santa to town to begin his summer vacation on the lake.
Santa on Vacation
I was there selling my baking out of a booth, and Merry played the role of Mrs. Claus. What happened when Merry realized she forgot the candy canes for the kids and ran back to town, doesn’t need to be mentioned ever again.
You didn’t hear about that? Maybe you should read Hark the Herald Angels Slay, by Vicki Delany in which Merry tells us all about it.
Because, as Merry says: "In Rudolph, New York, we love Christmas so much, we celebrate it twice a year."
Just in time for your holiday decorating, Vicki Delany is offering a pack of small items to give you a hand with that PLUS a copy of the brand new Year Round Christmas mystery, HARK THE HERALD ANGELS SLAY (prize shown below) which was only released on November 28. Please leave a comment below to enter the contest. Contest closes December 4. US and Canada entries.

ReplyDeleteI own the first two books and would love to add this one to my library. As to the cookies, I'd have to decorate them by putting a blue and white skullcap on the head and give him a beard. It would be Juda Maccabee since we do Chanukah in our house.

Imagine it's a great place to live. I know I'd love to visit Rudolph, NY just on the chance I'd get to see Santa while he's on vacation resting up for the big ride. :) Since it doesn't seem to be in the cards for me to visit in the near future, it would would be awesome if I could at least be the very fortunate one selected to win a copy of ARK THE HERALD ANGELS SLAY so I could at least read about it. ;) Thanks for the chance! And if you see Santa, tell him us down in Arkansas tell him we send him a jolly ho-ho-ho only with a southern twang.
