Giveaway! It's Almost Spring!

By Sassy Cabot from the Read ’Em and Eat Mysteries by Terrie Farley Moran

So I guess everyone knows that before my BFF Bridgy and I moved to Fort Myers Beach and opened the Read ’Em and Eat  Café and Bookstore, we lived in Brooklyn, New York. Much as I love living year round on a gorgeous beach where the temperature goes from warm to hot and back to warm again, I sometimes miss the change of seasons. Especially when I look at the calendar and realize that tomorrow is the first day of Spring. Back in the Brooklyn days, I always had so much fun each Spring looking for signs of grass bursting through the ground and buds popping open on the trees.

And when Spring arrives it brings color and exuberance. I used to write poems and stories in my journal about the renewal of the fields in Prospect Park and the Norway maple tree that stood at the curb in front of our house.

So to celebrate Spring, I am giving away this gorgeous journal to one lucky commenter. To enter please tell us anything at all about journaling or perhaps mention how happy you are to have Spring on your doorstep. Giveaway closes at midnight your time, Thursday, March 21st.

It is always great to talk to you. If you want to follow along in our adventures, you can find us in Well Read, Then DeadCaught Read-Handed and Read to Death.

  4. Keeping a journal over the past 7 years when I was enduring great difficulties with my health was necessary and important since I could barely function. I still continue to use a journal and enjoy this vital component in my life. elliotbencan(at)hotmail(dot)com

  5. I love Spring because of the warmth and flowers but this year it is also sad because of all the flooding here in the Midwest. I use journals to help me remember important things. Thanks for the contest! ckmbeg (at) gmail (dot) com

That looks like it would be an awesome book journal! I'm anxious for spring (but with sun and NO rain lol) so I can walk outside again and start working off my winter extra pounds. I don't like going out when it's cold, wet, rainy, yeah you get the picture. I'm kinda like my dachshund ;) Tari H barbie17(at)gmail(d0t)com

  8. I can't wait for Spring! It's been a really long winter here and it's nice to hear the birds and see the sun shining. I haven't kept a journal in years and I think it would be nice to start again.

  9. I am anxiously waiting for spring to get here. Michigan has had a crazy winter and I think we all need a break😁
I live journals. I still have all of mine from when I was in junior high, through high school and even after.. of course I had to hide them, or my daughter would be getting a lot more information than she needs lol... It's actually funny to look back through them and remember things. (Yep I am a pack rat🙈) Thanks for the chance.

  11. I love spring because the bulbs I planted in my Mom's honor come up. Then I can take pictures, show them to her and she can relive having her flower beds.

What perfect timing! I was reminiscing about my grandmother (who I grew up with) and how she had kept a journal for years so she could write down memories; I guess she knew at sometime it was possible she would forget everything and then she could just read her journals! What a wonderful memory of her! I love what little Spring we get here in Texas. (I say we have basic two seasons: one season is Fall/Winter/Spring, lasts between two days to two months, and the other season is split in three sections; PreSummer (80 to 95 degree), Summer(95 to unbelievably hot), and PostSummer (back to 80 to 95 degrees) and this season lasts from 10 to 11.5 months! Have a wonderful year!

  21. I journal as a way to get my feelings out while raising my three youngest kids, who are middle schoolers, as a single Mom. Life gets crazy with sports and activities but writing helps me keep life in perspective. I live in North Alabama so we have not been blanketed with snow all winter but Spring has already come to our part of the world. The pear trees and red buds are blooming and buttercup daffodils were in full color until a freeze this week. I live in a very rural area surrounded by a National Forest and its like the woods are waking up. Spring and Autumn are my favorites.

  24. I love Spring! I grew up in the desert and most people would think that not having cold Winters would mean not much of a season change. That is not true! Spring brought around new growth on the cactus, blooms so gorgeous that you had to smile! And the mountains were filled with blooms of the plants, especially the poppies! It was breathtaking!
Nowadays, I live in Indiana and long for Spring. Even though it is still not warm enough for outdoor planting, I can dream!
I love journal writing! I write often in one and also have a Happiness Jar filled with little notes that have something that made me happy during the day.
I hope you have a lovely Spring!
