Spring is here!!
It really is, even though snow keeps covering the daffodils and the hyacinths seem to be reluctant to poke their heads above earth. I keep wanting to get out and rake the leaves off the garden so I can see what's coming up, but we have alternating days of rain and snow in Michigan, so the leaves are still frozen to the ground most of the time!
But spring IS here... I can see it in the birds nesting in the light over my porch, the one I'll no longer turn on so I don't disturb the babies... LOL. And it's there in the soft scent of the breeze, the buds on the magnolia tree that are swelling ready to bloom, and the robins staging little sparring matches as they compete for mates.Jocie is doing a project on spring for her online schooling right now... for a science class she's documenting the dates that she notices each flower budding, and the first time she has seen a returning migrating bird. We're anxiously awaiting the first orioles and hummingbirds!
What are your sure-fire signs of spring?

A sure sign of spring is when it's warm enough to plant our tomato plants into the raised bed outside. Hubby grows our veggies from seeds. That means he's been pampering them under grow lights and on heating pads before moving them in and out on warm day to harden them up. Now they are off the porch and planted - a sure sign of spring here. Also getting the first crops - lettuce, radishes and green onions - big enough to start eating is also a sure sign of spring.
ReplyWe live in on a small acreage outside of town with lot of daily critter visitors. Having the mommas show up with their new babies or seeing the bird parents working all day to take food to their brood is also another great sign of spring.
Thank you for the chance! Have a wonderful day! Be happy and stay safe and healthy!

Around here we joke that it's not officially spring till my neighbor is outside in his garage in a lawn chair chatting with everyone who comes by. He's in the nursing home this year so I'm not sure if it's spring or not! Might have to start going by when my other neighbor starts mowing his lawn. He'll be out mowing as soon as he can.

ReplyAlways the daffodils as pops of sunshine coming up on their cheery green stems are my visual sign of Spring! But they are tied with the Daphne odora planted by my driveway because it's heady & rich fragrance is always such a blessing. It can have very few open blooms & yet the air is filled with their fragrance that you just breathe in as you pass by. The daffodils & Daphne bloom at the same time here where I live & they are the most delightful signs that Spring has indeed sprung!
