A Day in Fredericksburg

Scene 1
Setting: A street in Fredericksburg TX, background of flowers and blooming trees
Yolanda enters stage left, holding a decorated basket filled with lilies and a pair of Crocs
(Yolanda meanders to mid-stage, swinging the basket)
Tally enters stage right, sees Yolanda
TALLY
You look happy today. I love the basket. Who is it for?
YOLANDA
I’m taking it to the new shoe store on Main Street.
Yolanda sneezes
TALLY (looking at the backdrop)
Are you allergic to those trees? Those flowers? I know you have bad allergies.
YOLANDA (sneezing some more and wiping her nose with a tissue)
Not really. I’m allergic to the lilies in this basket. (holding basket aloft) Raul made it up and used them because we have so many. We got a deal on them from Fiona’s Flowers and have to use them before they wilt.
TALLY
At least lilies last a long time.
YOLANDA (still sneezing so hard she can barely speak)
Unfortunately.
TALLY (reaching for basket)
Here, let me take it. I’ll drop it off for you. You need to get away from it. Go home and take some allergy meds, Yo. Springtime is not your friend, is it?
YOLANDA
It is not. But you are. Thanks, Tally. You’re the best.
Scene 2
Setting: Later in the day on the same street.
YOLANDA (speaking to the audience)
Our author is the best, too. She wants to give you the chronicle of our first adventure.

ReplyCongrats on the new series. Loved the scene. I can sympathize with Yolanda. My allergies are very adaptable. Hot, cold, rain, dry, sunny, cloudy, windy, whatever the weather I either can't breath, have a runny nose, dry eyes, tearing eyes. Oh well, spring is still beautiful.
