Hello. I'm Miranda Trent, fledging owner of Paint & Shine, my brand new business specializing in cultural adventure tours set within the Daniel Boone National Forest in eastern Kentucky. My clients paint a picture of a stunning mountain vista and then enjoy a traditional southern meal paired with moonshine. I've been back in Kentucky for a few months now and the business is doing much better than I expected. That's a nice surprise.
A main source of creativity for me is to experiment with various moonshine cocktails. This is a new favorite and I serve it along with Carr's Cracked Pepper Water Crackers topped with a generous portion of Wensleydale Cranberry Cheese.
Cranberry & Sparkle
1/2 tsp cranberry sauce (either homemade or store bought)
2 oz sparkling water
1 12 oz clear unflavored moonshine
Unsweetened cranberry juice
Fresh sprig of rosemary
Place the cranberry sauce in the bottom of an 8 oz mason jar
Add the sparkling water
Fill the jar halfway up with ice
Pour moonshine over ice
Top up with cranberry juice and stir
Garnish with sprig of rosemary
This is a refreshing and energizing cocktail. The cranberry juice is tart and gives me a boost

I'm not much of an alcoholic beverage drinker. I do like a drink they call Skittle served at the Drury when we travel. However, I found I enjoy the virgin form of this drink just as well. It's made with a variety of fruit juices, sprite and grenadine cocktail syrup. In other words, it's a sweet and fruity drink.

ReplyDeleteMy go to drink is water. Although my Granny made a ginger drink called a Switzel. I have the recipe here somewhere. I remember it being besides a bit spicy thanks to the juiced ginger root. But after a hot busy day it was quite refreshing and replaced electrolytes.
